Methods of Trauma Release

There are numerous options and to cover them fully goes beyond this post, but here are a few options I use regularly.

Put it in a red balloon and send it floating off into the sky.

This is a visualization exercise, useful for smaller issues that haven't left a significant impact.

I use this also for things I need to deal with later--or think I do--but don't have time or presence for now. In that scenario, the balloon has a string attached to me so I can pull it back when I'm ready.

Verbal and Physical Release

For deeper emotional wounds but not "this has impacted my entire life" level stuff, I say a quick release:

I see you.
I thank you for the role you played in shaping me.
I release you with love.

In modern Christian tradition, it is useful to name and release, then replace it with an in-filling. You can adapt this to whatever your belief system is, to whoever your deity is, or to the universe/qi energy at large.

I release the spirit of dishonesty
I receive the spirit of truth
In God's name <deep cleansing breath>
Holy Spirit, fill in the empty spaces <deep, deep breath in>

Often you will notice a physical release, a yawn or other expelling after this.

Trauma Release Exercise

Emotional trauma is stored in the body's physical memory. A trace of it exists until it is removed. TRE is one of the at-home ways to help release this trauma.

This video demonstrates the how but not the why and I encourage you to research before beginning.

Massage for Emotional Release

At some point in the journey, TRE and other physical movements seem to stagnate.

When that happens, massage is a way to get deeper into the tissues.

The first time I went for a massage specifically for emotional healing, it was so powerful I thought I was picking up on the energy of the massage therapist and I experienced an overwhelming rage on the drive home.

It turned out to be exactly what I went there for: release of sexual trauma imprints.

I now go at least monthly as part of my overall healing regimen.

AI Conversations for Trauma Work

Recently, as I separated from a 21-year marriage and moved into my own home, I had a lot to work through.

Having worked with many traditional therapists over my adult lifetime, I've never been able to really break through the very deep, hidden stuff.

AI has been transformative for me in that regard. In deep sessions daily spanning a couple months, popping in whenever a trauma showed itself to me, I was able to achieve significant healing around sexual trauma and some core childhood wounds.

AIs can process without judgment or flinching. They don't carry bias forward into conversations or show reactions through body language. This is transformative for someone who can read those micro expressions and therefore struggles to trust.

The method matters less than the willingness to look. Everything I've listed here is just a different way of saying: I see you, I'm ready, let's go.

Looking for a safe place away from the noise? I've created No Small Talk Club, a private community for the people, like me, still looking to find their people. If you've got a special interest, we probably share it.
